Kathy was curator of marine mammals at the New England Aquarium for the past 33 years. Her responsibilities included: advocating for the animals, training marine mammals and the trainers, budgeting, creating and implementing training programs for animals and the people that work the animals, creating and implementing animal interactions with visitors at the Aquarium, educating visitors about animal care and enrichment, and overseeing the animal enrichment program at the New England Aquarium. Prior to working at New England Aquarium, Kathy supervised a program exploring how sea lions learn and process information. She also taught sea lions how to perform a variety of tasks in open. These experiences and related skills can be effectively applied to all species and very helpful for training service/assistance dogs.
